It is a SUP Paddle With a Built-In Sail!

At first glance, the Sailpaddle Mx looks like a regular stand-up paddleboard paddle. You can use it to paddle, steer, and maneuver your board just like the SUP paddle you already know.
But there is one big difference.
Inside the paddle shaft is a built-in sail.
That means Sailpaddle is not a separate sail kit, not a windsurfing rig, and not something extra you
have to carry on your board. It is a paddle first — with a sail hidden inside for those moments when the wind is at your back and you want to enjoy the ride.
Is It a Paddle?
Yes. Sailpaddle is a real SUP paddle.
You can use it as your everyday stand-up paddleboard paddle. It is adjustable, lightweight, and designed for paddling on the water. When the sail is stowed inside the shaft, you can paddle normally.
That is one of the reasons Sailpaddle is so simple. You do not have to decide before you leave the dock whether you are “going sailing” or “going paddling.” You bring one paddle, and you are ready for both.
Paddle out. Sail home.
Is It a Sail?
Yes — there is a real sail built into the paddle.
The sail is designed for simple downwind paddleboard sailing. When the wind is behind you, you can open the sail and let the breeze help move your board across the water.
Sailpaddle is not meant to replace a sailboat, windsurfing board, or wing foil setup. It is much simpler than that. It is for paddleboarders who want to have fun when the wind comes up, without carrying a separate mast, boom, sail, or rig.
Think of it as wind-assisted paddleboarding.
How Does the Sail Fit on the Paddle?
The sail is stored inside the paddle shaft.
When you are paddling, the sail stays tucked away inside the Sailpaddle. When the wind is at your back and you want to use it, you pull the cap at the top of the handle until the sail comes all the way out. You will hear a slight click, and you will also be able to tell the sail is fully extended because it will not pull out any farther.

Next, allow the boom to gently fall into place. If the boom does not fall into place right away, simply pull the sail out a little farther and twist it slightly until the boom settles into position.
Then attach the clew eye to the downhaul ring, and you are ready to sail.
There is no separate mast to attach, no extra sail bag, and no complicated setup. The sail is already with you because it is built into the paddle.
Do I Need Extra Gear?
No. You do not need a separate mast, sail kit, or boom to use Sailpaddle.
The Sailpaddle Mx has the sail built into the paddle shaft. You bring your paddleboard, your leash, your PFD or safety gear, and your Sailpaddle — just like you would bring a normal SUP paddle.
Of course, you should always paddle in safe conditions for your ability level. Sailpaddle works best when you have open, obstacle-free water and the wind is behind you. Always watch for boats, rocks, docks, swimmers, and changing weather.
Is Sailpaddle the Same as Windsurfing?
No. Sailpaddle is not windsurfing.
Windsurfing uses a large sail attached to a board with a mast, boom, and universal joint. It takes more gear, more setup, and more practice.
Sailpaddle is different. It is a SUP paddle with a built-in sail that helps you enjoy simple downwind movement on your paddleboard. You are not trying to tack, jibe, or sail upwind. You are simply using the wind at your back to make the ride more fun.
If you already enjoy paddleboarding, Sailpaddle gives you another way to play when the wind picks up.
When Would I Use the Sail?
The best time to use the sail is when the wind is blowing from behind you.
Many paddleboarders know the feeling: you paddle out when the water is calm, and then the wind comes up. With a regular paddle, that can feel frustrating. With Sailpaddle, that same wind can become part of the fun.
Instead of fighting the breeze, you can open the sail and let it help carry you downwind.
Sailpaddle is especially fun for cruising, exploring harbors, relaxing on open water, and enjoying those breezy afternoons when paddling alone feels like more work than fun.
Can I Still Paddle if the Wind Stops?
Yes. That is one of the biggest benefits.
Because Sailpaddle is still a paddle, you are not stuck if the wind changes or dies down. You can simply stow the sail and keep paddling.
This is also why Sailpaddle is practical. You always have your paddle in your hands. The sail is there when conditions are right, but you are never dependent on the wind to get back.
Can I Paddle and Sail at the Same Time?
Not really. Sailpaddle is designed so you can paddle or sail, but not do both at the same time.
When the sail is open, the wind is helping push you in the direction it is blowing. If you try to paddle in a different direction at the same time, it can feel awkward because the wind and your paddle strokes may be working against each other.
The easiest way to use Sailpaddle is to open the sail when the wind is behind you and you have clear, open water ahead. If you are getting close to a dock, boat, rocks, swimmers, or anything else in your path, simply stow the sail and go back to paddling.
That is one of the best things about Sailpaddle: you can enjoy the wind when conditions are right, then put the sail away and paddle whenever you need more control.
Who Is Sailpaddle For?
Sailpaddle is for paddleboarders who like simple gear, easy setup, and more fun on the water.
It can be a good fit for recreational paddlers, families, harbor paddlers, lake paddlers, and anyone who has ever wished the wind could help instead of slow them down.
You do not need to be a sailor to enjoy Sailpaddle. You just need to understand the basics: use it when the wind is behind you, stay aware of your surroundings, and paddle within your comfort level.
Why Not Just Carry a Separate Sail Kit?
You can, but many paddleboarders do not want extra gear.
A separate sail kit usually means more parts, more setup time, more storage space, and more things to carry on your board. You may need a mast, sail, boom, bag, attachments, or other pieces depending on the system.
Another thing to think about is that with a separate sail kit, you usually have to decide ahead of time to bring it. If you leave it at home, in the car, or back at the dock, you do not have it when the wind comes up.
Sailpaddle keeps it simple by combining your paddle and sail into one piece of gear. The sail is already with you because it is stored inside the paddle shaft.
That means less to carry, less to rig, less to keep track of, and more time having fun on the water.
Wait...Does the Built-In Sail Make the Paddle Too Heavy?
That is a fair question. If there is a sail hidden inside the paddle, it makes sense to wonder if the paddle will feel too heavy.

The sail itself is made from 1.1 oz. ripstop nylon, so it is very lightweight. The Sailpaddle Mx weighs about 3 pounds total and is designed to be a paddle first, which means you can still paddle normally when the sail is tucked away inside the shaft.
Instead of carrying a separate sail kit, Sailpaddle gives you more function in one piece of gear: a paddle when you want to paddle, and a sail when the wind is at your back.
For many paddleboarders, that small tradeoff is worth it because you do not have to carry a separate sail kit, mast, boom, or extra gear on your board.
So, What Is Sailpaddle?
Sailpaddle is a SUP paddle with a built-in sail stored inside the paddle shaft.
It works as a paddle first. Then, when the wind is right, it becomes a simple downwind sail for your paddleboard.
No separate mast. No extra sail kit. No complicated setup.
Just paddle when you want to paddle — and sail when the wind is at your back.
Paddle. Then Sail.
The Sailpaddle Mx was made for real paddleboarders who know that conditions change on the water. Sometimes you want to paddle. Sometimes the wind shows up and gives you a ride.
With Sailpaddle, you are ready for both.
Paddle out. Sail home.
